Winter Storm Update 1/22/2025
The Town of Edisto Beach continues to monitor the weather situation and its consequences. Please be safe and stay off the roads. The National Weather Service has issued advisories for hazardous travel conditions and cold weather. Wind chill temperatures are still with us. The overnight low temperature will elevate the risk of refreeze resulting in further deterioration of driving conditions. Residents should expect the snow and ice to remain throughout our area for the next few days. The Colleton County offices will be closed again on Thursday, January 23, and the Town of Edisto Beach Town Hall will also be closed on January 23.
Given the very cold temperatures, hypothermia can occur, so please dress appropriately if you must venture outdoors. The best course of action is to avoid any unnecessary travel and stay indoors and stay warm. Also, as a reminder, take steps to prepare your home for any freezing temperatures, particularly as it concerns pipes. Remember to insulate exposed, exterior pipes; open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing; and let the water drip from faucets served by exposed pipes.
Please note Food Lion is closed today, January 22, but will re-open tomorrow with hours to be determined.
Please be safe!
